New Design System

From Chaos
to Clarity.

Your current WordPress site has accumulated years of design inconsistency. Different developers, different plugins, different decisions. We are replacing all of it with a unified design system built specifically for LeoLabs.

A note on colors and fonts: The 14 colors and typography choices below were derived from your current live website. We organized what was already there into a coherent system. If LeoLabs has an official brand style guide with defined colors and fonts, we are more than happy to use those instead.

Built for a Space Company

Every design decision reflects who LeoLabs is: precise, authoritative, and operating in darkness.

Dark-First

Space is dark. LeoLabs tracks objects in orbit. The brand lives in darkness, with light used intentionally to draw attention.

Precision

LeoLabs tracks satellites to sub-centimeter accuracy. The design system mirrors that precision. Every value comes from a defined scale.

Authority

LeoLabs serves governments and defense agencies. The design must feel professional, confident, and trustworthy.

Clarity

Clean hierarchy, generous whitespace, and a restrained palette. Information should be easy to find and easy to read.

14 Defined Colors

Every color on the site comes from this palette. No arbitrary hex values, no one-offs.

Fluid Type Scale

chaos = 76 font sizes, 20 font families

All sizes use clamp() for fluid responsive scaling. No breakpoint jumps. Reduced from 20 font families to 3 intentional choices.

Typography Choices

We identified that the current LeoLabs site uses Obvia Wide and Proxima Nova, both commercial typefaces. For this demo, we selected open-source alternatives that capture a similar feel while keeping the project lightweight and license-free.

Current Site

Obvia Wide

Used for large headings and hero text. Commercial font by dooType, typically licensed through Adobe Fonts.

Current Site

Proxima Nova

Used for body text and UI elements. Commercial font by Mark Simonson, one of the most widely used web fonts.

Demo Alternatives

H1 / H2 / Hero

Plus Jakarta Sans

Clean geometric sans-serif. Hero headings use uppercase with increased letter-spacing to match the LeoLabs brand style.

ORBITAL INTELLIGENCE

H3 / H4

Anta

A geometric display font with a technical, engineered feel. Perfect for sub-headings and feature titles.

Space Domain Awareness

Body Text

Inter

The closest open-source match to Proxima Nova. Highly legible at all sizes with excellent screen rendering.

Leverage our proliferated sensor network for continuous coverage.

Labels / Technical

Space Mono

A monospace font that reinforces the technical, data-driven nature of the LeoLabs brand.

ORBITAL INTELLIGENCE

All four fonts are free via Google Fonts. If LeoLabs prefers to keep Obvia Wide and Proxima Nova, the rebuild can use those with the proper licenses applied.
